Line-Rider
Ok I have a problem...some of my computer science students introduced me to this little game and now I can't stop playing it, hours upon hours of this game, just trying to get the little man stay on the sled. After you have played this game for a while you start to get a little punchy. You start to want to get the little man to crash. Then you want the crash to become more spectacular. Then you want to see how far he can slide to his horrible little doom. I must publicly thank my wonderful computer class for this new horror they have thrust upon me. So I will now spend all of my time playing this little toy trying to get the little man to do little tricks. For your reference here is The Toy the movie. Click me!!

The First Week
Well the first week has come and gone and we are no worse for the experience. I have given my first set of Quizzes in my classes. Some did well some did not. I hope those who did not take this as an opportunity to redouble their efforts. The summer packets proved to be the downfall for some students. I hope they will take every opportunity to make that up. Only time will tell. On a better note the Wiki has proven so far to be very helpful (for me at least). It has keept me better organized and I hope has provided a good place for students to keep up with their assignments. The new web based grading system for me seems to be working out well. I like the layout and the ability to do my grades without having to be locked to my computer at my desk at school. I hope to do another podcast in the next few days. I will have to do some thinging about what to say. If anyone would like to help or has something interesting to add to my podcast I would be more then happy to have a guest. It is always more interesting to hear a conversation then it is to hear just one person speaking. See in you in school!!!!

Welcome Back
Well I am glad we are comming back to school. I for one am ready. I had a very nice summer with my family. We went to Hershey park for 2 days and spent a few days camping in Promised Land State Park. We had a great time and are looking forward to going back camping with the outdoors club (Run by Mr. O'hara and Mr. Seiple). I did some siding on my house, put in a hot tub and started a deck (which should be done very soon..or I will be in trouble with my wife). Some changes for this year will include the use of the Wiki in each of my classes. I used it in one of my classes last year and it worked out very well. We also have a new grading software so you will all have to be a little patient with me until I get confortable with it and tweek it to work for me. I also want to work on my podcast and get some regularity with it. I think I need a theme a month or a week ...If anyone would like to help with that let me know. Also this year putting student work on the internet should be much easier given the new internet use forms.(yeah!!!!) So I will see all your bright shinning faces on Sept. 5
P.S.Geometry and Calculus don't forget to bring in your packets if they are all finished there might be some extra credit in your future

Great quote...
I found the following quote written by Dave from the Ed tech Talk wiki . "Your instructors are not to be treated, nor will they act, as experts. Much like the coach on a sports team, they understand the strategies and have experience playing - but they are not the players. Their main skill is in getting people to work together, and keeping people on task." This really says alot about education. I see this in myself when I teach compter science mostly but I also find then I am presented with a new way of looking at a math topic that I may have never thought of. The AP Calculus presentations start today and I believe they have some things to teach me about their topics. Come join us period seven for the next three days.
