Hello to all readers of the DEN Techformation blog series. \u00a0We had a good run for a while and then took a bit of a break. \u00a0Let\u2019s jump back in and get stated again. \u00a0What do you think? \u00a0 If you are interested in writing a post in the DEN Techformation series let me know by commenting on this post. \u00a0I will set up a schedule. \u00a0In the mean time here is one to get us started. \u00a0I have been working with students on marking period portfolios. \u00a0To do this I have been using Dropbox. \u00a0I have taken student classwork, homework, tests and quizzes and scanned them into the computer (OK truth be told our district copy service does it for me) I then file them digitally into student folders which syncs up with Dropbox. \u00a0The students and parents then have access to the folders at any time using a share link. \u00a0The wonderful thing about this is the students and parents don\u2019t have to have an account. \u00a0I just email out the link to them. \u00a0I have created a outline for them to follow when they put their marking period portfolio together. \u00a0 (see below) Another great way to do this is with the\u00a0Discovery Student boards<\/a>\u00a0Students can use this to include Discovery Content as well as their own documents. \u00a0This will let them build dynamic online portfolios. \u00a0If your interested and needs some help getting started drop me a comment and I can help.<\/p>\n

Quarter One Portfoilio<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

Follow the directions to build your portfolio. This will be worth 100 points and is\u00a0DUE NOVEMBER 7th<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Portfolio Assignment Sheet Section<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this section of the portfolio you will need to follow the below directions to get Advanced<\/p>\n

Read through your online folder specifically looking at your Assignment Sheets.\u00a0 Then work on each of the following tasks<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one assignment sheet set that represents your best work for the marking period.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) describing why you choose this to represent the best work you have done at home.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one assignment sheet set that represents your worst work for the marking period.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) describing why you choose this to represent the worst work you have done at home.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one assignment sheet set that represents the assignment you learned the most from.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) describing what you learned.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one assignment sheet set that represents the assignment you learned the least from.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) describing what when wrong in the assignment that produced such a minimal learning effect.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Compare you list of assignment sheets to the website list of assignment sheets.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) explaining the relationship between your consistency of doing homework and your performance in the class.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one question from a quiz or a test that you felt the least prepared for by the classroom instruction or the homework assignments.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) explaining what about the classroom instruction or homework assignments could have been better to have made you more prepared for the question.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one question from a quiz or a test that you felt the most prepared for by the classroom instruction or the homework assignments.\u00a0 Write a sentence (or few if needed) explaining what about the classroom instruction or homework assignments that was helpful in preparing you for this question.<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Choose one topic of math that we have covered and reflect on the application of that concept in the real world.\u00a0 Write a short paragraph stating the concept and its application in the real world that we have done in class or you have found on your own.\u00a0 Choose artifacts from your online folder, class notes, or other sources that demonstrate this real world application.<\/p>\n
